CONGENITAL UNILATERAL FACIAL NERVE AGENESIS : CASE REPORT

Facial nerve agenesis should be considered in cases with irreversible congenital facial paralysis.
We report two cases of facial nerve palsy in young children; facial nerve aplasia diagnosis was
observed with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT).
Three-dimensional constructive interference in steady state magnetic resonance imaging (3D
CISS-MRI) and high-resolution computed tomography scanning (HR-CT) are very useful for
diagnosing congenital facial paralysis due to anatomic anomalies.
