THE EXPLORATION OF THE EARLY REPUBLICAN PERIOD TURKISH CARICATURE

Abstract

Caricature art has the power to convey ideas related to different aspects of societies.
Expressions used in caricatures deliver messages on sociology, culture, history, politics etc.
with an intelligent approach. They reflect artistic creativity on global issues and are tools for
communicating the 'prohibited' from time to time. In the study, 'Early Republican Period
Turkey' caricature is being investigated in order to provide an insight on the historical
changes that took place from an artistic point of view. The qualitative research presents
information regarding different periods centered on the influence of caricature art and
provides examples in order to highlight social transformation and interaction.
